Pavers & Hardscaping for Mesa Homeowners
Mesa keeps our hardscape crews busy on both ends of town. West and central Mesa are full of older homes on big, flat lots where the pool deck and back patio are long overdue for replacement. East Mesa is newer, rockier ground where most of the work is building decks, patios and paths for the first time.
We design and install travertine, porcelain and concrete paver surfaces for pool decks, patios, walkways and driveways throughout the city. Paver projects here are often paired with the resurfacing and tile work we do on Mesa pools, which lets the new coping, deck and interior finish come together in a single remodel. AZ Pool Concepts is family-owned, run by owner Shawn Walker, and licensed with the Arizona ROC. Phone (480) 241-9708 to book a free estimate.

West Mesa Deck Replacements and East Mesa Hillside Builds
Homes in west and central Mesa mostly went up between the 1960s and 1980s, and the backyards show it. We see a lot of cracked concrete decks, patios that have sunk near the house, and walkways lifted by tree roots. These lots are large and flat with easy equipment access, so demolition and haul-off go smoothly. The deep former farmland soil compacts well once it's prepared, and our main job is clearing out the old slab, correcting low areas, and building a base that drains toward the yard. With this much space to work with, many homeowners extend the new deck into a larger patio while the crew is already there.
East Mesa is another story. Around Las Sendas and the Red Mountain foothills, the ground turns rocky and the lots slope. Buried rock has to come out of the base area, and grade changes call for paver steps, landings and sometimes a retaining wall to make the yard usable. On these properties we study how water moves downhill during monsoon season, since runoff from higher ground can wash out joint sand or undercut the edges of a deck that isn't graded for it.
Newer east-side communities such as Eastmark are HOA-governed, so a front-yard driveway or walkway change there will generally need review. We help pull the material specs and color samples together for that submittal. Where no HOA is involved, concrete pavers in a blended color are a practical driveway pick because they hide tire marks and dust.

Common Pavers & Hardscaping Projects in Mesa
Replacing cracked concrete decks
On west and central Mesa remodels we tear out the old slab, rebuild the base, and set cooler travertine or light pavers around the pool, often replacing the coping at the same time as resurfacing.
Patios on big, flat lots
Mesa's larger lots leave room for dining and lounge areas, ramada footings and fire features. We size the patio around your furniture and grade it so monsoon rain leaves the house quickly.
Walkways and garden paths
Paths from the driveway to the front door, around the side yard, or through desert landscaping, in concrete pavers, travertine or flagstone with solid edge restraint so the borders stay tight.
