San Tan Valley
Pavers & Hardscaping for San Tan Valley Homeowners
San Tan Valley is home for AZ Pool Concepts, and the paver work we do here follows the way the area was built. Almost every house went up in the 2000s or later, and most arrived without a pool or much of a finished backyard. We take those yards from dirt to complete hardscape: pool decks, patios, walkways and, out front, the occasional driveway upgrade.
Johnson Ranch, Circle Cross Ranch, Pecan Creek, Copper Basin and Skyline Ranch are all close to where we're based, and owner Shawn Walker is personally involved in projects across these neighborhoods. We install travertine, porcelain and concrete pavers suited to open, sun-exposed lots and the runoff that comes with monsoon season, and our family-owned crew is licensed with the Arizona ROC. Blank Backyards and Monsoon Runoff in San Tan Valley
Lots here are big and flat, on former desert and farmland that digs easily and leaves plenty of room for a full layout. Starting from a blank yard lets us plan everything in the right order. Pool deck elevations are set with the pool, ramada footings and gas or electrical sleeves go in before paving, and walkways are routed to where you'll actually walk, such as the side gate, the equipment pad and the garage door.
Drainage is the part we spend the most time on. These open lots get full sun and heavy monsoon rain, and a large paved area changes how water moves across the yard. We grade decks and patios to carry water away from the house and pool, keep downspouts from dumping onto joints where they would wash the sand out, and coordinate the hardscape with desert landscaping that can take the runoff. Light travertine and light-toned pavers matter even more here, since the open exposure leaves the surface in sun for most of the day.
Much of San Tan Valley is unincorporated Pinal County, so when a deck is part of a new pool build, the pool permit goes through the county rather than a city building department. Homeowners are often unsure about this, and we sort out the right jurisdiction for your parcel. Master-planned communities often have HOA guidelines as well, so check before changing a front-yard driveway or walkway. We can put together the paver details your HOA asks for.

Common Pavers & Hardscaping Projects in San Tan Valley
Pool decks for brand-new pools
Most of our San Tan Valley decks go in alongside a first pool. We set travertine or light pavers and coping around the pool and spa, graded so splash-out and storm water move away from the water.
Patios under ramadas and shade
Open lots need shade to be usable in summer, so we often build the patio and a ramada together, setting post footings first and cutting the pavers cleanly around each post.
Walkways that connect the yard
Paver paths from the patio to the side gate, equipment pad and garage, edged on both sides so they stay tight, with a slight cross-slope to shed water during monsoon storms.
