Pool Remodeling for Peoria Homeowners

Southern Peoria is where most of our remodel work in the city happens. The established neighborhoods there date mainly from the 1980s and 1990s, and the pools built with those homes are ready for new surfaces, new tile and coping, and decks that stay cooler under bare feet. AZ Pool Concepts handles the full scope, from draining and resurfacing to rebuilding the equipment pad and laying new pavers, and we schedule the pieces so each one sets up the next.

We are a family-owned contractor licensed by the Arizona ROC. Owner Shawn Walker has more than 18 years of experience in the Valley and works with West Valley homeowners as closely as he does with our East Valley neighbors. Book a free on-site consultation by calling (480) 241-9708.

Remodeling 1980s and 1990s Pools in South Peoria

A typical south Peoria remodel starts with a pool that has been in the ground for a few decades. The interior finish has roughened and faded, calcium has built up along the waterline tile, and the coping has loosened where the deck meets the pool edge. We replace tile and coping and resurface the interior in one sequence, which avoids chipping a new finish when old tile comes off and means the pool is drained just once.

Many of these pools also need a cooler deck. Concrete that has cracked over the years and heats up in summer is a regular reason Peoria homeowners call, and swapping it for pavers is a standard part of our remodels here. Setting new coping at the same time lets the pool edge and the deck line up cleanly. The relatively flat lots in southern Peoria keep demolition and material delivery straightforward.

North Peoria is mostly new construction, with Vistancia and Sonoran Mountain Ranch climbing into rocky, hilly desert. Remodels there are less common, but when an owner wants to add a raised spa or a retaining feature to an existing pool, buried rock and grade changes affect how we approach the work, and hillside lots can carry additional grading review with the City of Peoria. Those newer northern communities are HOA-governed with design review, so we prepare the approvals along with the city submittal, and the city inspects barrier compliance on permitted work.

Common Pool Remodeling Projects in Peoria

Resurfacing Older Interiors

Pools from the 1980s and 1990s in south Peoria are often due for a new surface. We drain, prepare and refinish the interior, and walk you through color choices that look good in full West Valley sun.

Tile and Coping Replacement

New waterline tile and coping make an older Peoria pool look current. We remove scaled or loose tile, repair the bond beam where needed, and set new coping that suits the pavers going in around it.

Cooler Paver Decks

Replacing an old concrete deck with pavers makes the pool area more comfortable in summer and gets rid of cracked, uneven surfaces. We coordinate the deck with the coping so the two finish at the same line.

FAQ

Pool Remodeling in Peoria: Questions

Do you remodel pools in south Peoria's older neighborhoods?
Yes. Southern Peoria is a remodel market for us, with many 1980s and 1990s pools that need resurfacing, new tile and coping, and cooler decking.
Does a pool remodel in Peoria need a city permit?
It depends on the work. When a permit is required, we prepare the plans, submit to the City of Peoria and handle the inspections, including barrier compliance.
Can you add a raised spa to an existing pool in north Peoria?
Often, yes. On sloped or rocky lots in areas like Vistancia, we plan for buried rock, grade changes and possible grading review before committing to a design.
Will my north Peoria HOA need to approve deck or tile changes?
Newer north Peoria communities are HOA-governed with design review, so visible changes usually need approval. We prepare that submittal along with any city paperwork.
